Harbour-side Benches in St. Peter Port

We have been installing granite benches throughout the Harbour to replace the many old wooden type benches. In addition, in consultation with the Harbour Master, sites have been identified where there have been no facilities for the public to sit and enjoy the delightful views around the busy Harbour.

Market Square/Bus Terminus – South Esplanade

These areas will be next on the radar once the Castle Walkway has been fully sponsored. The intention is to work with the Constables to provide a consistent design of bench throughout the Town commencing with the Market Square.

Town Carnival

This event takes place from 16th July until 30th July with the first week of Carnival dedicated to local entertainers. We are hoping to involve schools and Colleges plus the performing Arts College and the school of popular music. We are budgeting for a spend of £45,000 on the event and are currently

University of Chichester

In 2016 we are pleased to be receiving the 70 strong Orchestra who are visiting on 25th May until 31st May. During their visit they visit Schools and Colleges, perform in many different guises in the Town and have two concerts at St. James, including a musical and the full Orchestral Concert on 28th May.

Market Square

We have not yet secured funding for the Saturday Concerts with the accent on youth with over 50 performances taking place in 2015. In 2016 these should commence on 7th May and run until 24th September with performances commencing at 11.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm.

Candie Gardens

We have commenced the 2016 schedule for the Sunday Concerts which will commence on 8th May and run until the end of September, although we have not yet secured funding. The event costs £3,500 and was supported in 2015 by the Guernsey Arts Commission, with additional funding from the Ana Leaf Foundation
