Market Square Lighting

5th October, 2018

Town Centre Partnership is delighted to have received permission for their planning application to install fixings and tension wires at Market Square to accommodate permanent lighting, like that currently in Market Street, across the Market Square.

Funding for this project was once again forthcoming from McAulay (Market Buildings) Ltd, the company previously having paid for the lighting in Market Street. The festoon lighting has interchangeable fittings to allow festive bulbs, icicles and stars to hang over the Market Square for the Christmas period.
Jack Honeybill, Executive Officer of Town Centre Partnership said, ‘we extremely pleased to receive the generosity of McAulay to light this public space in the town centre. This will add to the area’s atmosphere during the festive period and throughout the year.’ It is hoped that the lighting will be operational by mid-October.
